Rapid Penang is expected to add another 200 new buses in stages by end 2014 to improve the public transportation system in the state.

Rapid Penang chief operations officer Mohd Shukri Abdul Rahman said the first stage will see 80 new buses added to the service by the end of this year and the rest added next year.
“Next year we hope to add 120 new buses, including 40 double-decker buses in efforts to service new routes. Currently Rapid Penang has 316 buses plying 46 routes throughout Penang," he told reporters in George Town today.
He added that on July 27, Rapid Penang would introduce a new route - Route 103 - that will pass through Komtar, Jalan Burma, Jalan Kelawai, Jalan Bagan Jermal, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Jalan Larut and Lebih Lintang.
