Former Malacca state exco member Ab Karim Sulaiman's house in Sungai Udang was broken into while he was busy campaigning for Barisan Nasional (BN) in Terengganu, ahead of the Kuala Besut by-election.     

Ab Karim, a former Malacca state Public Works and Amenities Committee chairman and Tanjung Bidara state assemblyperson, suffered losses amounting to about RM5,000 in the break-in early this morning.    

The former exco member’s son-in-law Amir Ariffin, 37 said when he returned to the house at 11.30am today, a 43 inch TV, home theatre set and some clothing were missing.     

"While Ab Karim was away, his family members were in our other house in Kampung Seri Jeram. When I arrived at the house I found the back door forced open and footprints in the garden.     

"My neighbour saw a car drop someone in front of the house at about 5.30am and later pick up the same person at the house about an hour later," he told reporters in Sungai Udang, Malacca today.     

Amir who works in the Malacca Chief Minister's office, said two months ago there was a failed attempt to rob the house.     

Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the Alor Gajah police station said police were carrying out investigations.
