The Penang government is carrying out a customer satisfaction survey on the state’s ferry services.
‘We hope the survey would help PPSB upgrade the ferry services after hearing comments from the public,’ says exco member Lim Hock Seng.
The Penang government is carrying out a customer satisfaction survey on the state’s ferry services.
State executive councillor Lim Hock Seng said the survey would be conducted over Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB), which used to manage the ferry, but has since been criticised as having run it poorly.
The state government decided to take over the ferry services in 2009 after the ferry operations incurred losses of RM21 million in 2008.
Located at Weld Quay, it is one of Penang’s tourist icons and has been running to and from the island and the mainland since the 1920s.
“We are doing this initiative as the Penang government has received many emails, letters and calls or public comments regarding the ferry services,” said Hock Seng in a statement today.
“We hope the survey would help PPSB upgrade the ferry services after hearing comments from the public,” he added.
The survey will be carried out from July 23 to Aug 31.
The public can make their comments by filling up a form which can be obtained at Komtar, Level 3.
Feedback can also be made on the official portal of the chief minister at cm.penang.gov.my and Buletin Mutiara, the state’s official newspaper.
CM Lim Guan Eng and Buletin's Facebook pages are also open to receive comments about the ferry, said Hock Seng.
The completed survey form can be sent to Hock Seng's office at Komtar’s Level 52.
Alternatively, the forms can also be dropped in a special box at Komtar, Level 3.
