I want to appeal to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad not to give up on Malay Malaysians. What he said in the report Mahathir tells weak Malays to learn from Chinese hurt us so much, yet we are the ones who should say sorry to Mahathir, not him saying sorry to us Malays.

We are constantly reminded by him year in and year out that we need the New Economic Policy and privileges, so much so that we now fully believe him that we cannot survive in this world without the NEP.

We are still the poorest, the weakest and the most backward people. I get so affected by his exhortations, scolding and cajoling that I am having sleepless nights wondering what is wrong with me. Am I so weak and poor and so backward? The good doctor must be right! He knows best.

Even though sometimes I feel I can compete in this world, but every time I hear him scolding me, I feel he must be right. Maybe he knows something about me that I don't. But then, why isn't my Malay cousin in Singapore feeling the same?

My cousin tells me that he can stand up to anyone at work (he is a computer analyst) and even insists that some Westerners cannot even match his standard! So what is wrong with us Malays here this side of the causeway?

We are so fearful that without Umno and Malay unity under Umno, we will collapse and perish as a race. How can this be after 32 years of positive discrimination and special privileges? Even the poor Chinese and Indian Malaysians have not been able to benefit from the taxes paid by the Chinese rich, and yet they, as Mahathir said, can do so well and be so well off. Why has it come to this? What could have gone wrong?

Even though we graduate from government-owned universities and colleges, the ethnic Chinese still don't want to employ us. What can we do? How do we learn from them if they are unwilling to teach us? What is wrong with our education system?

Maybe we should create more special rights laws to force them to employ us so that there will be racial unity and harmony. Then all the races can be integrated. Create more quotas so that we will benefit more and give us more contracts so that we can all be rich and not just a few cronies.

My father is not an Umno member, so he cannot get close to Umno politicians of influence. He has tried many times, but he couldn't get the contracts, so we remain poor and weak. Please help us more. Mahathir and Umno must continue to help us 'poor and weak' Malays.

As Mahathir said it will be worse when the foreigners come under the guise of globalisation to try to colonise us again. Here's where he can help us as we don't know what to do without him. He has put so much fear in us that we are paralysed and without Umno we will surely die.

If as he said the ethnic Chinese own all the towns big and small, why doesn't he make new laws to take over the ownership and give all these towns back to us? Then the problem will be solved.

We will own all the towns, big and small, and we will own all the businesses and industries and we will have all the funds to continue subsidising us and build more and more facilities to make us strong.

This way we don't have to say sorry to Mahathir and we will surely succeed like the ethnic Indians and Chinese. Why, he called them foreigners, didn't he? So it is okay to take away their assets, right? Idi Amin chased away all the foreigners and look how successful the Ugandans are now!

That way Mahathir too doesn't have to say sorry to us and keep telling us we are 'weak' and poor and need Umno, etc.

That way he will finally succeed and then we will remember him for the wonderful and incredible ways he has helped Malay Malaysians. This is of great credit to him. Why, there are even other Malays who don't fight so hard for their own race. Look at former deputy president Anwar Ibrahim! After being kicked out of Umno, he and his wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and their non-Malay cronies went to start a multiracial political party and dared to oppose Mahathir. Oh, such ungrateful wretches! How dare they!

Mahathir has not failed; he just has to plod on and continue helping us. Damn the foreigners and the globalisation game they are playing! Mahathir knows best how to deal with them. As they say, the show — the wayang kulit show — must go on. And Mahathir knows how.
