Again, MCA youth leaders and members have disgraced the Chinese community and the nation. I am referring to the ruckus yesterday in Wisma MCA where the Selangor MCA Youth held its meeting.

There is no point in staying in a party that suspended democratic elections only for the benefit of just a few top leaders and businessmen. It is a waste of time as well as precious life. There are many other more meaningful aspects of life beyond MCA that one can explore and enjoy.

Why stay if ordinary leaders and members are not allow to speak up and conduct democratic elections?

MCA is no longer a political party in the proper sense of the word. It is just a platform for some well-connected businessmen and their privileged sons and daughters to obtain contracts and contacts from Umno. Others have no opportunities because rich men only protect each other, and their sons and daughters.

It is time for ordinary leaders and members of MCA with a clear conscience to quit the party and cease supporting it. There is no meaningful role MCA can play in serious national politics anymore.

The fact that its elections and constitution could be suspended just because Umno and Dr Mahathir have no respect for democracy speaks volumes of the pathetic situation MCA is in. If MCA cannot even protect its independence, honour and integrity against Umno, how can it claim to be capable of protecting those of the people? Let us wake up and start our life anew beyond and without MCA.
