PKR will support the candidate PAS puts up for the coming Kuala Besut state seat by-election in Terengganu.

NONEPKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali said at the Parliament lobby in Kuala Lumpur today that this was unanimously agreed upon by the PKR leadership yesterday.

Yesterday, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng suggested that Kuala Besut PAS boycotts the by-election as a sign of protest against "dirty tactics" of the Election Commission's (EC) used in the recent 13th general election.

Commenting on Lim's statement, Azmin said: "That is a personal view he will propose to the Pakatan Council... e will hear his reasons."

The Kuala Besut by-election has to be called following the death of its assemblyman Dr A Rahman Mokhtar, 55, last Wednesday.

The EC will hold a special meeting on Friday to set the date for the by-election.

In the recent GE 13, Rahman defeated Napisah Ismail of PAS with a 2,434-vote majority.
