Avoid aides who are too big for boots, PM told

This is among 15 “concrete” suggestions for key performance indicators (KPI) put forth by Gabungan NGO Melayu Islam to Najib in carrying out his post-general election transformation, beginning with the Prime Minister’s Office.
The coalition said in a statement today that Najib (right) must select officers, including those appointed to cabinet ministers and deputy ministers, who “do not act lebih sudu dari kuah but who act like a coolie who fully serves the PM, and one who does not act arrogant, proud and boastful of the position in the Prime Minister’s Office.”
They also said those selected must be “God-fearing”, with the “commendable character of a Muslim, such as being trustworthy, humble, industrious, loyal to their leader, not treacherous, courteous and noble”.
This possibly comes following reported criticism levelled against BN’s 'war room strategists' last month, whose poor advice during the run-up to the May 5 general election was blamed for the losses suffered by the BN.
However, the BN denied these accusations and dismissed the allegations, saying they were made by “irresponsible” parties.
When contacted, a spokesperson for the coalition, said to comprise some 130 pro-Umno NGOs, said it sent the statement as a mere “guideline” to the PM, without referring to any particular incident that might have prompted it to do so.
Among the other suggestions listed in the statement for the hiring of officers by the Prime Minister's Department are that they must:

- Possess strong political acumen and a history of Malay political struggle;
- Have a strong Malay identity and are not easily shaken;
- Possesses suitable academic qualifications for the job entrusted to them;
- Be free of any form of scandal and corrupt tendencies;
- Be committed to and loyal in helping the PM achieve his visions, goals and programmes;
- Do not become a liability to the PM, but serve as his strength to fulfil his responsibility toward the religion, race and country;
- Do not become an obstacle to the rakyat’s wishes that are reasonable, concrete and beneficial to the country;
