A member of Gerakan was sacked and two others were suspended from the party for, among others, undermining the candidates chosen by the party for the recent 13th general election.      

Gerakan acting president Chang Ko Youn said today the decision was made during the party's Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting yesterday.     

"Prior to this, five others had already made their own decision to resign...the reasons were because some had stood as independent candidates while some had undermined our candidates. There were also several other complaints," he told a press conference after opening the party's brainstorming session at its headquarters, here.     

However, Chang did not name the three members involved adding that further investigations were being done on other complaints received.      

On the brainstorming session, he said, it was held to look into the strength and weaknesses of the party and Barisan Nasional related to the recent general election.     

"We have about four to five more years to regain the confidence of the voters, we need to come out with concrete plans," he said.
