The Ops Warta II operation is turning many lives topsy turvy and all because of the inefficiency of not only the authorities but also our communication service providers.

I share the same predicament of a newspaper reader who was dissatisfied with with the short messaging system (SMS) services provided by TM Touch that gave him the wrong information on his traffic offence(s).

In my case, I made a similar check with my Celcom service and was informed that I have no summon(s) with the police as well as JPJ (Road Transport Department).

To my surprise, my attempt to renew my driving licence at a post office yesterday was declined obviously for an unsettled summon.

At 50 sen per check for the SMS, there has already been considerable outrage by the public. The RM1 plus Celcom is charging for the service is as good as 'day light robbery'.

To add insult to injury, the information provided is incorrect! We do not know how many more people fail to settle their summons because of the inaccurate information provided by the SMS services.

Since the launch, the service providers must have reaped good income from this new 'business' and should have at least 'done it right'! Now, who will hold them accountable for the wrong information which were charged and inconvenience caused to the poor consumers?
