A coalition of three NGOs called on police today police to thoroughly investigate the Facebook account under the name of 'Programmer Calvin Gani' for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad in a posting.

Pertubuhan Permuafakatan Majlis Ayahanda Malaysia, Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Pekida) and Angkatan Perpaduan Islam Sejagat Malaysia (API) said this in a memorandum sent to the federal police headquarters at Bukit Aman this afternoon.

API chairperson Aziz Nani wants police to thoroughly investigate and take stern action against the owner of the account.

"If it is up to me, persons like this do not deserve to live in Malaysia because they can cause chaos. We want him investigated until five generations.

"We ask that he does not simply open his mouth to speak... we gave him citizenship, in the end he turns his back to say such things," Aziz said.

Umno-owned Malay language daily Utusan Malaysia reported the matter on June 9 and reproduced a screen capture of the account posted on the blog "Just Read", dated June 5.

The memorandum was submitted by representatives of the NGOs to Deputy Supt N Venugopal of the Bukit Aman public relations department.
