I strongly disagree with both Sean and Team C. In Seans opinion, it was president Dr Ling Liong Sik who is wrong while Team C thinks that it is Team B that has destroyed the party's democracy by inviting Umno to intervene.

True, Team B is not right in inviting Umno to intervene into the domestic affairs of MCA. Equally true is that Ling and Team A has also backed down to the pressure of Umno at the last minute. I suppose those who have done no wrong should not capitulate to Umno. Team A and Ling must have some records of wrongdoing known to Umno.

As it is now, I think the top leaders of both Team A and Team B are wrong in agreeing to the effective suspension of the party's sacred constitution. The party constitution gives us members the right to contest in party elections. There is no point at all if party elections are held but no contests are allowed. It is a mockery of democracy and human rights.

Holding party elections that do not allow members to contest can be compared to the communist systems in China and North Korea. There, 'democracy' just exists in name. All top leaders are not elected but arranged by dictators among themselves. Is MCA going to be a communist party?

It is even sadder to reflect on the fact that MCA was set up in 1949 to fight the communist party but now, MCA itself has emulated its nemesis at the intervention of another dictatorial party, Umno.

Let us defend the party's constitution by actively participating in the coming party's elections. Win or lose, let us nominate each others to contest in the divisional, state and even central elections. Win or lose is one thing, but to preserve party's democracy is more important.
