'Opposition will never credit gov't for good work'

Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) chairperson Heliliah Mohd Yusof claims the opposition will never admit it if a government agency does a good job.
Heliliah Mohd Yusof, who heads the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission, bemoans that the gov't and its agencies only come in for criticism.

Heliliah said this in response to criticism from DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua that the EAIC was designed to fail from the onset.
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion," Heliliah told a press conference, before saying that it was the norm for the opposition to criticise anything the government or its agencies did.
"I was in Australia and they have a similar body to this (EAIC). And it was the same there too. The opposition criticises anything that the government does.
"When something happens, they would say ‘there you go again’. But even if a good job is done, they would not admit and tell the government ‘you succeeded’.”
Heliliah said achieving integrity was not an easy process and that everyone should believe in the process.
"Integrity cannot be measured by statistics. When they say crime has reduced by 30 percent, don't you still see crime on the streets? It's an ongoing process (to eradicate the problem)," she said.
Heliliah also said that there plans are in place for EAIC to be placed under a parliamentary committee soon.
"We have heard about it. We have even prepared a report to be presented in Parliament," she said.
"We are set to be under a committee, but are waiting for confirmation.”
