Suspend Kok Wai, urge sacked DAP members

The 11 DAP members sacked last week for supporting Jenice Lee’s bid to defend the Teratai state seat against the party's official candidate in the 13th general election, have demanded the suspension of disciplinary committee chairperson Tan Kok Wai.

Among those axed is former Pandan DAP women's chief Dorothy Chong who said due process was not followed in their dismissal, according to a New Straits Times report today.
"According to the party constitution, members suspected of wrongdoing must be issued show-cause letters first, and subsequently given a hearing so they can defend themselves,” she reportedly said.
"In our case, some of us did not even directly support Lee during the (election) campaign.”
Seven of the sacked members were at the DAP headquarters yesterday to submit a memorandum appealing their sacking and demanding an investigation into the alleged wrongful dismissal.
Chong also accused Tan of double standards, claiming he had refused to act against a DAP-nominated local councillor for alleged misuse of power.
Lee (left) was dropped as DAP's candidate for the May 5 general election, but she contested against the party's candidate Tiew Way Keng as an Independent.
Tiew polled 23,578 votes to Lee's 1,832 votes while BN's Liew Pok Boon received 9,932 votes.
