When a good man turns uncaring
I think nobody can dispute that. I, for one, had the greatest admiration for him. No one can deny him that legacy or credit. He came into being when Tan Koon Swan had to give way. Otherwise, I believed that Tan would have done an equally good job. Destiny dictates the change then and will do so again.
Lim Ah Lek was working very well with Ling then. What happened to cause the rift between them is really puzzling. Putting the jigsaw together over the last one year, I still stand by my belief that Ling has changed so much that credibility and honour do not count anymore. Please refer to my earlier letter MCA farce is about expediency.
It is frightening that he can stoop so low to do what he did to Lim prior to his retirement. At least Lim kept his word, but now he has no choice but to do what he has to do.
To Lim, the power struggle is a necessity for the good of MCA and the ethnic Chinese. Recent events that unfolded confirm that we need him to check on the abuse of power and end the nonsense by the MCA administration.
If as alleged they can put in fake members by the thousands to hijack the party leadership, it is little wonder what else they will not dare do to benefit themselves.
What is allegedly done smacks of a criminal offence. I believe Ling, like his predecessor, should step down now and be remembered for his past contributions.
