Malacca state financial officer Naim Abu Bakar has been appointed as the Malacca state secretary effective June 1.

Chief Minister Idris Haron said Naim’s appointment was to succeed Omar Kaseh who has been appointed as the director-general of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Manpower Planning Unit (Mampu), Prime Minister’s Department.  

“We congratulate Datuk Omar Kaseh on his new appointment and welcome Datuk Naim as the new state secretary,” he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting in Malacca today.

Omar’s appointment in Mampu is to succeed Mohamad Zabidi Zainal who has been appointed as the director-general of public services effective March 15.

Meanwhile, Naim, 55, said he was thankful to Idris and the state government for giving their full trust to him to shoulder the new responsibility placed on him.

Naim, who hails from Parit Melana, Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from Universiti Malaya and had held the post of Malacca state financial officer since April 7, 2008.
