With the current revolt within the MCA that has been given prominent coverage of late, I am sure many would question where the root of the problem lies. No doubt it is with the current party big shots and their underlings who are entangled in a web of confusion.

Common sense has not prevailed and the real reasons behind the dispute are now lost amid the daily bantering that has gone on for the last two years. Many were taken for a ride to fight for the wrong cause and hence, end up backing the wrong horse.

My empathy goes out to deputy chief Lim Ah Leks team for their bold stand to oppose incumbent chief Dr Ling Liong Sik who has at his disposal the party machinery as well as the party-owned propaganda machinery, The Star.

Chinese Malaysians have long been a society that has been marginalised with no tenacious voice to address the shortcomings. The mainstream press carries with them an 'invisible hand' that dictates the line that must be toed. The long-term effect of this suppression would be seen in time to come to the detriment of future generations.

While the rest of the world grows and progresses, we in turn have to put up with keeping our mouth shut and turning a blind eye to the unfair system. This is happening in politics, business, education and almost everything that touches our daily life.

The corruption and mismanagement are bleeding our glorious nation dry. Imagine what we are able to achieve if only we would confront all the society ills openly and tackle our problems earnestly. Pretending that everything is hunky dory by not talking about them is like lying to ourselves.

Our potential is endless if only we have the guts to stop the pretense. For now, let Lim who is respected for his clean record take on Ling whose leadership has been questionable on many occasions. I hope the truth will prevail soon so that we can put all the muck behind us.

Though the odds are against Team B, they should know that they would not be fighting in vain. They may lose the battle but the whole country stands to win for their show of courage and honour. Lets vote for a better and more dynamic future by giving the underdogs their day.
