Yazid Sufaat has again been detained by the police, just seven days after the High Court in Kuala Lumpur set aside a charge against him under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).

Also detained this morning was Yazid’s former employee, Muhammad Hilmi Hasim, at his Ampang home.

According to lawyer Fadiah Nadwa Fikri, the two are detained under Section 130KA of the Penal Code, for allegedly being members of a terrorist group.

In the Ampang magistrate's court, Yazid and Hilmi had been represented by Amer Hamzah Arshad and they were charged with allegedly being a member of the Tanzim Al-Qaeda Malaysia group between Aug 1, 2012 and Feb 7, 2013.

No plea was recorded when the charge was read to them. The duo were not allowed bail as this is a non-bailable offence.

The magistrate then fixed June 7 for mention for the case to be transferred to the High Court.

NONE Amer said that they will apply to challenge the charge and the detention of the two.

If convicted, they may face a fine and imprisonment for life.

This, according to Fadiah, was what the arresting officers told the Yazid's children, who were at home when the arrests took place.

When contacted earlier today, Yazid’s wife Chomel Mohamad ( left ) said she does not know why Yazid has been detained.

"The police came to our house about 8am today and picked him up.

“They said they are taking him to Bukit Aman. I was not at home when this happened, but my four children witnessed this.

"This is getting ridiculous as he had just been released ... I am tired (of this)," said Chomel, who operates a stall in a canteen with her husband.

Yazid, 49, was released on May 20, along with two others including Hilmi, 33, on terrorism-related charges. Hilmi had worked with Yazid and Chomel at the canteen.

They were the first to be detained under Sosma, which replaced the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Yazid had been detained for an offence under Section 130G(a) of the Penal Code for allegedly inciting or promoting the commission of terrorist acts, while Hilmi was charged with abetting Yazid.

Even before that, Yazid had been detained under the ISA for seven years and was released in November 2008.
