Polis jumpa pistol mainan, 46 ditahan

Polis menahan 46 orang termasuk dua wanita dan empat pelajar kerana mengambil bahagian dalam perhimpunan "14 Hitam" petang tadi. Ketua Polis Kuala Lumpur Datuk Kamaruddin Md Ali memberitahu wartawan di Dataran Merdeka, polis telah menjumpai sepucuk pistol mainan dalam simpanan seorang pelajar yang ditahan. Pelajar itu akan dikenakan tindakan di bawah Seksyen 6 Akta Senjata Api. Sementara 45 orang lagi akan dikenakan tindakan untuk pelbagai kesalahan termasuk tidak mempunyai kad pengenalan, memarahi pegawai polis dan tidak beredar apabila diarah. Kamaruddin juga mengesahkan tokoh reformasi Abdul Malek Hussain turut ditahan. Sementara itu, Naib Presiden KeADILan Tian Chua meminta semua penyokong reformasi beredar selepas sembahyang Maghrib. Beliau memberitahu malaysiakini satu sidang media akan diadakan esok.

7.36pm, SAT: KeADILan vice president Tian Chua has called on all reformasi protesters to go home after azan prayers. He told malaysiakini that he will be holding a press conference tomorrow. The police have reopened Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Police found toy gun, 46 arrested

7.10pm, SAT: The police have arrested 46 people for their involvement in the "Black 14" rally, including two women and four students. Kuala Lumpur police chief Kamaruddin Ali told journalists that one of the students was found with a toy gun and will be charged under Section 6 of the Firearms Act. He said that the others will be charged for various offences including not having identification card, scolding a police officer, and for failing to disperse when ordered. He confirmed that reformasi leader Abdul Malek Hussain was among those arrested.

Jalan TAR closed by police, crowds line pavements

7.03pm, SAT: About 500 people, both reformasi supporters and bystanders, lined both sides of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman from the Coliseum to Sogo. The police have closed the section of the road. The crowd is now moving to Masjid India and Masjid Jamek for their evening prayers.

6:26pm, SAT: Hundreds of reformasi protestors were chased off Sogo shopping complex by the police using water cannon and are now regrouping near Masjid India. A group of 50 riot police in Dataran Merdeka are being deployed to the area. So far, more than 30 people have been arrested.

6:12pm, SAT: About 500 protesters were gathering outside the Sogo shopping complex and the crowd was reported to be growing very fast. Riot police have been deployed to the area. Torrents of chemical-laced water were sprayed to disperse the crowd.

Police action an 'overkill', says Tian Chua

5:50pm, SAT: The police action in dispersing peaceful protesters was an "overkill", KeADILan vice-president Tian Chua told malaysiakini from an undisclosed place in Kuala Lumpur. He denied that the police have been successful in stopping the 'Black 14' event. "Many people came to protest today despite strong police intimidation," he said. "The government has turned this country into a police state in its desperation to prevent this peaceful gathering." He added that Malaysians must now reclaim their right to peaceful civil disobedience.

Water cannon fired in National Mosque

5:25pm, SAT: The police unleashed a torrent of chemical-laced water on a group of people who refused to disperse after evening prayers at the National Mosque. Another 10 protesters were arrested. Meanwhile, about 20 protesters shouted reformasi slogans outside the Pertama shopping complex and were chased away by a dozen of riot police.

'Reformasi'activist Abdul Malek nabbed by plainclothes police

5.15pm, SAT: A key reformasi activist, Abdul Malek Hussain, was arrested by four plainclothes police officers while he was in a restaurant with a few friends near Hotel Istana at 5.05pm today. He was handcuffed and taken away to an unknown destination in a car. Meanwhile, some people were allowed into the National Mosque for evening prayers (asar). However, they were told by the police to leave the mosque immediately after prayers.

4.01pm, SAT: The 'Black 14' protesters, who have been ejected from the National Mosque and dispersed by the police, are regrouping near the Sogo shopping complex at 5pm, KeADILan vice president Tian Chua told malaysiakini.

3.40pm, SAT: A few hundred people who were inside the National Mosque have been removed by the police. Nine men and two women were arrested during the operation. The police have now sealed off the mosque and are not allowing anyone to enter the building. None of the leaders of the rally have so far made an appearance. Some of the protesters are regrouping in Sogo and Pertama shopping complex.

Polis bertindak mengalau orang ramai

3.15pm SAB: Beberapa ratus orang ramai yang berjalan menuju ke Masjid Negara dari Pasar Seni dan stesen KTM telah dihalau oleh pasukan polis antirusuhan FRU dan polis. Rakyat yang berada di luar Masjid juga telah diarahkan untuk masuk ke Masjid atau meningggalkan tempat itu. Menurut wartawan malaysiakini di lokasi, orang ramai yang berkumpul di sekitar kawasan membeli-belah di luar Pasaraya Sogo di Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman juga diminta beredar dari kawasan itu.

3pm, SAT: Hundreds of people moving towards the National Mosque from Central Market and KTM Railway Station were dispersed by the police. Most of them are now moving slowing away from the compound. In addition, those who were standing on the mosque's veranda were also ordered by the police to either leave or move into the building. There was a crowd of people building outside Sogo shopping complex, about a few blocks away from the mosque.

2.45pm, SAT: The number of people inside the National Mosque has grown to about 300, while another 100 were seen standing on the building's veranda. Outside the mosque's compound, there were 30 uniformed police with another 15 riot police armed with 3-foot-canes. A police helicopter was spotted surveying the area and traffic in nearby roads was rather heavy. However, the number of people in the vicinity of the area was still normal.

100 orang di Masjid Negara selepas sembahyang

2:15pm, SAB: Lebih kurang 100 orang kelihatan menunggu di tingkat satu Masjid Negara selepas sembahyang Zohor. Selain itu, tidak kelihatan orang ramai berkumpul di mana-mana tempat berdekatan dengan Dataran Merdeka dan masjid berkenaan.

1.05pm, SAB: Dua jam sebelum perhimpunan '14 Hitam', wartawan malaysiakini di Kuala Lumpur melaporkan kehadiran anggota polis di tempat penting sekitar Dataran Merdeka. 16 buah trak polis and sebuah trak membawa meriam air menunggu di Dataran Merdeka manakala enam trak lagi menunggu di depan Pasar Seni. Polis tanpa pakaian seragam kelihatan berkeliaran di sekitar Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek dan stesen LRT berhampiran masjid dan dua pasukan polis membawa anjing telah bersedia di sebelah bangunan KTM.

1.05pm, SAT: Two hours before the scheduled 'Black 14' gathering, malaysiakini journalists on the ground reported heavy police presence in three key areas near Merdeka Square. An unusual number of plainclothes police were seen in Central Market, Masjid Jamek and the Masjid Jamek LRT station. However, the number of people in the area appeared normal. Six police trucks and a water cannon vehicle were parked in front of Central Market, while 16 police trucks and a water cannon vehicle were spotted near Dataran Merdeka.
