After reading your article on Top gov't officials' allowance a public interest secret, I think the person who replied to the question raised by opposition member of parliament Kerk Kim Hock (DAP-Kota Melaka) probably meant to protect "public servant's interest".

When the word "servant" is inserted in the phrase, it makes a lot more sense. I think the taxpayers in this country have the right to know how much public servants earned for all this while, we have been taken on a long ride that seems to go nowhere.

Perhaps malaysiakini should conduct a survey on taxpayers' awareness to find out how much we know where our money goes. Is there no such thing as a taxpayer's 'rights'?

Once the tax (money) is paid, that is it. It becomes government's money, for the bureaucrats to spend as they please, with no accountability. This charade should be stopped.
