I think the current witch hunt by the authorities over the National Union of the Teaching Profession's allegations of racial segregation is ridiculous and totally against a Free Malaysia Inc concept.

I have supported the government over the Anwar Ibrahim issue among others, but this current issue stinks! Anyone who raises a sensitive issue faces great risk and intimidation.

There have been so many emotionally-charged statements made by the authorities (education minister, his deputy, etc) as if they are so high above public scrutiny when they should realise that they are ultimately public servants and have no business in politics. They are essentially technocrats, and at the very least the education minister should realise this — unless they are under the illusion that they serve only a segment of the population.

Bottomline is that racial streaming happens in schools, only that the authorities suggest it is done for noble reasons. I should know as my daughter in Std 2 is affected.

Fact: Streaming is not merit based in its entirety.
