Police have detained a car spare-parts trader in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to assist investigations into the murder of Customs deputy director-general Shaharuddin Ibrahim in Putrajaya last April 26.

This brings to two the number of people detained in connection with the case.

Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department head Ku Chin Wah said the 37-year-old trader, who is from Kedah, was detained at 2pm yesterday.

“The suspect will be brought to court today for police to obtain an order to remand him,” he told a media conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters today.

Last Sunday, police obtained an order to remand a 56 year-old man for investigation into the case.

Shaharuddin was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle while on the way to work when the car he was travelling in stopped at a traffic light intersection in Putrajaya.
