I have lost all faith in the present government. The more I read, the more I realise that it is a government interested in staying in power and does not care about the vulnerable people in this country.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I gather from what I have read, that in this country, it is as though the poor do not have the right to get sick. Most of our rubber tappers, who are paid daily, do not get paid for the day they are unable to work.

Now I read about the discrimination in Universiti Malaya Medical Centres private wing. I feel even more suspicious of the government.

The privatisation of services in this country is making the poor suffer. Six or seven years ago the mini-bus cost only 60 sen a journey. Then Intrakota came along. The service is not responsive to commuters needs, and the recent price increase has really gone too far You have to pay more to take the bus because you are poor. However, the government then makes a big deal by lowering the price of sugar by five sen. As though we cannot see the tricks it is playing on the people!

When I read about water cuts, landslides, polluted rivers, dirty air, evictions, floods You dont have to tell me there is no haze, I can see that there is no haze. You should tell me when the haze is around and what the API reading is. I can decide for myself whether to panic or whether to vote for this government or not.

The government is inefficient and only worries about its own pockets and the pockets of rich friends. It does not seem to care about the poor, or even if it shows some form of caring, it is only done to get votes. When I see the way the government officials live in Putrajaya, Damansara and all these rich places, I can see they are hypocrites.

They are too afraid to let others tell them they are wrong and unfair. So they make all sorts of laws to make it hard for people to demand justice and put their own people in important positions to protect themselves.

They dont want to lose power, so they make the public afraid to speak. They use ISA (Internal Security Act), OSA (Official Secrets Act) and all the other As to maintain inequality and injustice.

They make it difficult for the opposition by making all sorts of laws, so that the opposition cannot be in Parliament. If you believe in your principles and believe in justice, you won't use such tactics. You will use fair-play. I really believe that it is because they know they are wrong, and thus they are afraid to lose the next elections.

And when people demonstrate on the streets because they feel they have no choice, the government attacks them and makes them look like trouble-makers. It treats us as if we are stupid and that we will follow like goats forever. Is this a democracy? I don't think so, because it looks like a police regime at the moment.

I wish we have a stronger opposition that is not so dominated by PAS. I read about the hudud laws in Kelantan — it is not the kind of country I want to live in. I think women and men are equal but I think PAS does not.

If Keadilan is more moderate and doesn't follow PAS, I don't mind trying them. But when they don't state their stand, I am not convinced that they can lead. Even DAP I don't understand anymore.

So, now I don't know who to vote for because I don't know who is interested in being a good leader and representing the public's issues.
