The police have warned political party supporters not to engage in any further acts of provocation over the 13th general election (GE13) results to prevent an upheaval.

Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar said the police would ensure a safe environment to enable the federal and state governments to govern according to democratic practices as enshrined in the constitution.

He said the police would not allow the country’s administration to be held under siege by those who tried to challenge the constitution through provocative rallies.

“Every day we delve on national security. Let me remind these quarters, we have plans of action on know what to do if things get out of hand,” he told reporters after opening the RM60 million Yan Police District Headquarters building today.

He was commenting on claims that the Pakatan Rakyat rally at the Kelana Jaya Stadium, Selangor last Wednesday was provocative in nature.

On probe into the murder of Customs deputy director-general Shaharuddin Ibrahim in Putrajaya on April 26, Ismail said he was satisfied with the progress of the investigation.

He said the case was serious because certain quarters attempted to instil fear in civil servants.
