As an opposition supporter, I am glad that Keadilan and PAS have decided to give way to DAP in the Ketari by-election, although the latter has already quit the Barisan Alternatif.

It is certainly a sign of maturity and magnanimity on the part of BA. It augurs well for the future of democracy and human rights in Malaysia. I hope DAP will win handsomely.

Although DAP may still lose Ketari due to the unfair advantages faced by all opposition parties, but it is time it makes good use of the golden opportunity to re-build some measure of trust in BA.

If requested, BA should mobilise to help, but that is up to DAP. It may think that it is best for it to fight it alone without the assistance of PAS, Keadilan or PRM. All groups in BA must consult each other and be disciplined and united with one voice on this matter.
