The open houses held during the festive seasons by Umno, MCA and MIC politicians have become very lavish affairs and garner much publicity for the hosts. The question is — how much of the money used for these functions is public money and how much do the hosts pay out of their own pocket?

When there is free food and you are being asked publicly for comments, how would you reply? Be civil and say good things of course. Not only foreign tourists but locals too will say how much they enjoy the food but deep down do they mean what they say?

The crowd is getting bigger in every open house with each year. Very soon the bill will run high and who will be paying? Will the politicians ask for more to help feed his guests?
