The Singapore government is wrong in not allowing Muslim students to wear a tudung (headscarf). To wear or not to wear a tudung is a personal issue. Women should have the prerogative to choose to wear or not wear a headscarf for modestys sake. In this context, I agree with PAS.

But PAS has also to look at the scenario in Malaysia. If the right to wear or not wear the tudung is a human rights issue in Singapore, then it should also be the same for women in Malaysia. They should also have the same right to decide on that issue without undue pressure from anyone. What is Malaysias stand on this?

The same needs to be said for all the other views that PAS carries in its baggage. PAS has to realise that Malaysia is a multiracial, multireligious, multicultural society and that Malaysians should also have a right to their own choice in whatever they want to do.

Women should have the right to work, wear lipstick and clothes of their choice, or does it mean that they will not have such a choice because Malaysia is (supposedly) an Islamic state?

No Malaysians in the right mind will want their human rights violated, Islamic state or not.
