While PAS and PKR have settled the dispute over overlapping candidates in six seats in swapping three each, the impasse over Selangor's Kota Damansara state seat continues.

PAS organ HarakahDaily reported president Abdul Hadi Awang today saying that they will give PKR the Labuan (Sabah) parliamentary and Sungai Acheh (Penang) and Panti (Johor) state seats.

NONEIn exchange, PKR has agreed to hand PAS the Terengganu state seats Bukit Besi, Seberang Takir and Kota Putera.
 
Harakah reported that the Kota Damansara seat is still embroiled in discussions between PKR, PAS and PSM.

PSM incumbent Nasir Hashim, who won the seat in 2008 under the PKR banner, is contesting again under the PKR ticket.

PSM, who finally received its registration recently after a ten-year wait had been at loggerheads with PKR over wanting to contest under the socialist party’s own banner.

Resolving the party ticket did not end the seat’s woes as PAS subsequently fielded its own candidate Ridzuan Ismail on nomination day against Nasir.

Ideology an issue for PAS

This puts the two opposition partners into a multi-cornered fight with Umno-BN’s Halimatun Saadiah Bohan and two independents Edrus Abdullah and Halmi Omar

According to Bernama today, Hadi speaking at a PAS ceramah in Terengganu yesterday explained the party’s objections to certain candidates whom he claimed may project an image contrary to Pakatan’s.

"There are some candidates who we fear are involved in selling methamphetamine. How can they be candidates?

“There are even some who put up pictures of (past communist leaders) Lenin, Stalin and Karl Marx at their headquarters.

“PAS cannot work with such candidates," he was reported saying.
