Barisan Nasional candidates contesting the 13th general election will be announced seven to ten days before nomination day.

NONESecretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (right) said BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak will handover the candidate list to the state liaison chairperson.

"The state liaison chairperson will then handover the appointment letters to the candidates. We hope it can be done 7 to 10 days before nomination day," he told reporters after ‘Kayuhan Patriotik 1Malaysia@ Putrajaya’ event in Putrajaya yesterday.

The BN candidate list is at final vetting for health, financial institution, the police, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Insolvency Department.

"Those on the list can give us medical reports issued six months ago. If not, they will have to go for medical check up."

Tengku Adnan said BN is ready to face general election and just waiting for the Election Commission (EC) to announce the dates for nomination and polling.

NONENajib will today chair a special meeting of the Umno supreme council at 9am and special meeting of BN supreme council at 11am at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur.

"We will be launching the BN manifesto on Saturday at the Indoor Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur," he added.

Meanwhile, a source said the manifesto will be launched by Najib at "1Malaysia People First Assembly" at the stadium.

He is scheduled to deliver a speech at the assembly expected to be attended by BN component party leaders and thousands of guests.

It is understood that the BN manifesto contains the BN government's achievements over the past five years and what it wants to do for the people and the country over the next five years with the new mandate.
