DAP's Teo Nie Ching today released an itemised expenditure list of her RM350,000 allocation as Serdang MP for 2012 and challenged her MCA counterpart to emulate her.

The dare was set off by local MCA leaders protest against her yesterday, demanding that she account for the rakyat's money.

"According to a parliamentary reply, every BN coordinator in Pakatan-held constituencies received special allocations from the Prime Minister's Department of RM1.5 million in 2008, RM1.3 million in 2009 and RM1.5 million in 2010.

"The local MCA leaders asked us for transparency and I have disclosed my allocation. I think MCA's Serdang parliamentary coordinator Yap Pian Hon, Seri Kembangan state coordinator Liew Yuen Keong and Balakong state coordinator Hoh Hee Lee should do the same.

"You cannot demand transparency from DAP but don't question your own leaders, that would be double standards," Teo said at a press conference in Balakong this morning.

mca protesting against teo nie ching Serdang MCA bureau chief Alan Liew had led the protest demanding an accounting for a RM36 million allocation to upgrade the main road, Jalan Besar, in Seri Kembangan.

Teo explained that the fund did not pass through her and that Selangor government allocation was channelled directly to the Public Works Department.

"Even though the road is under the federal government, but we asked the state government help upgrade it into a one-way road to ease congestion because we can't wait forever.

"But a few months after work started the federal government ordered it to stopped and it is now left hanging," she said, adding that no reason was given.

‘ No more commissions'

As for her own allocation, Teo said she had disbursed RM330,372.85 in 2012 with the leftover carried forward to this year.

Of this, RM102,341.30 went to associations, schools or in aid to Bangi, RM115,472.10 to Balakong and RM112,559,45 to Seri Kembangan - the three state constituencies in Serdang.

"I am releasing this to uphold the principle of competency, accountability and transparency," said Teo, adding that the complete breakdown can be found on her blog .

teo nie ching pc on parliamentary allocation 3 In contrast to disbursement under the previous BN-controlled Selangor government, Teo ( right ) said even though application for funds go through her office, the Selangor government directly disbursed the funds to the applicants.

"This is a good system as it ensures the money is not siphoned off by the MP in the form of commissions.

"Previously if you are promised RM1,000 you may only get RM700 but now the cheque goes directly to the applicant.

"Only in certain instances can money be disbursed through the MP's office such as for fire victims where the money cannot wait," she said.
