About 200 people representing a non-governmental organisation Kota Baharu gathered peacefully in front of the Kota Darul Naim Complex in Kota Baharu to protest against the Kelantan government's measures on land issues.
The representatives of 'Change the Kelantan Government for the People Movement' (Tukar), headed by its chairperson Kamaruddin Kassim, handed over a protest memorandum to the Kelantan menteri besar's special officer, Zawawi Mohamed, at the entrance of the complex.
Kamaruddin also handed over 23 oil palm and rubber seedlings, saying they symbolised the protest against the giving of land to companies from outside Kelantan and the failure of the state government in administering the state for 23 years.
He said the movement demanded that the state government apologise to the people in the state for leasing land to companies from other states and to reveal the list of the companies and the acreage leased to them in the name of development.
