Embattled Suara Wanita 1Malaysia (SW1M) president Sharifah Zohra Jabeen Syed Shah Miskin has accused student group Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) of barging into the SW1M office in Taman Sri Gombak last week.

NONEIn a report she filed at the Setapak police station yesterday, the 41-year-old (right) said three men and a woman claiming to represent SAMM charged into the office at 2.30pm on Jan 18.

They handed over an invitation letter to the ‘Academic Freedom and Fundamental Rights' forum to be held at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, which took place yesterday.

Although she had not given any feedback to the group nor appointed any representative to act on her behalf, Sharifah Zohra said in the police report, she later discovered that the group had used her pictures in banners promoting the forum and had spread false news that she had agreed to attend.

SAMM: We were warmly received

However, SAMM has strongly and vehemently denied the accusations, claiming its members had only gone to the SW1M office because their earlier invitation letters, sent via fax and email, were not acknowledged.

SAMM student segmentation coordinator Wan Noor Faril Azli Wan Haron told Sinar Harian that the group was in fact "warmly received" by SW1M staff, and that they were even offered mineral water, chocolates and a seat on the sofa.

"We were there to deliver an official invitation letter to SW1M president Sharifah Zohra to be a panel member (at the forum)," the Malay daily quotes Wan Noor Faril as saying.

He added that the group never even got to see Sharifah Nohra and they had proof that nothing untoward happened on that day.
