Despite calls from PAS leaders to put an end to the 'Allah' controversy, Pas ulama chief Harun Taib continues to battle the issue with DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh, who has urged the Islamic party to review its stance.

"That is his business... We have made the decision in the syura council. I demand Karpal not to interfere with the internal affairs of PAS.

"He can appeal. That is his right, but we will follow our religious teachings to prohibit non-Muslims from using the word 'Allah'," the Malay daily quotes Harun as saying.

PAS information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man also told Berita Harian that the syura council's decision on the issue was correct and could not be changed, and that it has also been supported by all party leaders and supporters.

Last week Karpal reportedly called on PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to review the syura council's decision that non-Muslims cannot use the word 'Allah' in their religious texts.

Karpal wants the syura council, the highest decision-making body in the Islamic party, to adhere to Pakatan Rakyat's consensus that non-Muslims are allowed to use he term 'Allah'.
