The war of words between Suara Wanita 1Malaysia (SW1M) president Sharifah Zohra Jabeen Syed Shah Miskin and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) law student KS Bawani, which has become hot topic of discussion in social media, has nothing to do with the Higher Education Ministry, let alone the government.

NONEThe minister, Mohamed Khaled Nordin, said the forum, in which the war of words took place, was organised by students at the university and Sharifah Zohra was invited in her capacity to be the moderator.

"In university, not all programmes are organised by the government, some are organised by the students, but it appeared that the government was being accused of organising the event and asking Sharifah to speak like that to control the minds of the students.

"Sharifah is not an academic staff of UUM or the ministry. She was invited by the students to become the moderator for the forum. I don't even know where she's from," Mohamed Khaled told reporters after launching Restoran Asam Pedas dan Seafood Warisan Kampung Senibong in Johor Bahru.

The 24-minute video clip showing the war of words between Sharifah Zohra and Bawani during the forum was uploaded to YouTube on Jan 9.
