A 45-minute power supply disruption in Kampung Luak and Brighton last night was due to a cable trip, said Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) northern region manager Yusri Safri.

“The cause of the power interruption was a trip in the 33Kv main cable, possibly caused by a faulty relay. Upon detection of the trip at 6.50pm, a technical team was immediately deployed and power was restored by 7.30pm,” he said in a statement in Miri today.

“We were able to restore power to 80 percent within 30 minutes, with the rural areas being restored within 45 minutes,” he said.

“While we regret that the power interruption occurred, we assure our customers that we will do our best to ensure everyone enjoys constant power supply,” he added.
