70 smartphones identified under rebate package

The Information, Communications and Culture Ministry has met the needs of youths with 70 types of smartphone models offered under the Youth Communication Package (YCP), said its minister Dr Rais Yatim.

He the names of the models would be displayed on the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) website soon.
Youths aged between 21 and 30 years could choose wisely by comparing prices for their desired smartphones nationwide, he said.
“MCMC will continue to monitor registration via the Internet which has now reached 187,000 for the RM200 rebate under the Youth Communication Package,” he said.
He was speaking at the opening of the Sabah-level ‘Himpunan Kasih Sayang, Klik Dengan Bijak dan Nilai-nilai Murni’ programme at Menumbok near Kuala Penyu, today.
He said the ministry had listed 1,000 smartphone outlets throughout the country to enable eligible youths to take advantage of the rebate.
The two-day programme which began yesterday is led by Sabah and Labuan MCMC with the cooperation of agencies under the Information, Communications and Culture Ministry including the Sabah Information Department, Broadcasting Department, Sabah Special Affairs Department and Bernama.
Also present at the programme were the ministry’s secretary-general Kamaruddin Siaraf, Sabah Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister and Klias assemblyperson Azizah Mohd, Beaufort Umno acting chairperson Isnin Aliasneh and Kuala Penyu state assemblyperson John Teo Mau Sing.
