The Alor Limbat state assemblyperson’s service centre in Padang Midin, Kuala Terengganu was broken into on Tuesday, resulting in the theft of eight laptops and an LED projector.

The break-in, via the main door, was discovered by a state community development agency assistant about 8.30am yesterday.

At the time of the incident, the centre’s closed-circuit television camera was not functioning.

State CID chief ACP K Manoharan said the laptops did not contain confidential information.

“Nevertheless, important documents were left untouched and our initial investigations do not indicate the break-in was politically motivated,” he told reporters in a news conference in Kuala Terengganu today.

Manoharan estimated the losses at RM30,000.
