PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli refuted a New Straits Times news report that Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has dropped its investigation into the Amangate corruption allegations.

“(The fact that it quoted an unnamed source), that is strange. I doubt that it is true,” he told Malaysiakini.

NONERafizi related that from his two visits to the ICAC headquarters in Hong Kong, the investigator in charge of the case made it clear that the anti-graft body will not divulge any details or status of the investigation to anyone.

“That is the way they work... that is why I believe it (the news report) may not be true.”

Rafizi said that he will, however, write to the ICAC investigator in charge whom he had met previously, to inform her that the Media Prima-owned newspaper had made the claim.

In a report today, the English-language daily quoted unnamed sources, telling them that the anti-graft body had decided to drop investigations as no new evidence were forthcoming.

The PKR representative lodged a report with ICAC previously, after details of alleged money-laundering involving Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman was published in anti-Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud’s website, Sarawak Report.
