The error in the counting of votes at the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) election last month was very embarrassing, said the party's national chairperson Karpal Singh.

"The mistake was indeed an embarrassment to DAP but it was not intentional and the matter was caused by human carelessness and not to gain the support of the Malay people as claimed," he said at a press conference in Georgetown today.
He added that the party's image would not be tarnished because the party could explain what really happened which would prove its transparency.
Yesterday, a local daily reported that various parties were questioning DAP's claim that there was an error in the counting of votes at the CEC election announced on Dec 15, with the party's Malay leader, Zairil Khir Johari winning a position in the committee.
