Breakdown at Syabas pump houses fixed

The breakdown at two pump houses that led to water disruption around the Kuala Lumpur since Dec 29 last year has been fixed, enabling them to resume operation, according to Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas).
However, water supply is only expected to be restored to the areas affected in stages and in five days time.

Syabas Corporate Affairs and Public Relations assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred said water supply was expected to resume in stages to all the affected areas in five days.
She said repair works at the Wangsa Maju pump house were completed around 11.45am last night, while the Pudu Hulu Baru pump house was settled around 5am this morning.
Both pump houses have resumed operations, but the Wangsa Maju pump house was operating at a lower capacity with 170 million liters per day (JLH), compared to the normal capacity of more than 200JLH, she said in a statement today.
Priscilla said to facilitate residents of the affected areas, Syabas had provided 40 water tankers and located 174 static water tanks to the area involved.
"Since yesterday, Syabas had also received assistance from the other water concession companies such as Lembaga Air Perak (LAP) which provided four water tankers, the Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad (SAMB) provided two tankers, Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) with eight tankers and Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan (SAINS) which provided two tankers," she said.
