Seputeh MP Teresa Kok said that the ever-shifting dates of the upcoming general election has affected the economy and suggested that rules should be set accordingly for it to be held every five years.

“Many businesspeople have been withholding their investments in the country as they do not know what the outcome of the general election might be.

“We have been waiting since March 2012, when there were speculations that the elections would be in May or June, then in September after which the parliament seating resumed,” said Kok in her podcast New Year message today, describing the situation as bad.

Kok who is the newly-elected DAP vice- chairperson, lamented that election dates should be set by the country and not just at the whim of the prime minister.

She also expressed her happiness that Selangor had achieved the most number of industrial projects and highest figure of investments compared to other states in Malaysia, saying that the year 2012 has been a memorable one for her.
