Four of the seven Automated Enforcement System (AES) cameras installed in Perak since October have been vandalised, said the Perak Road Transport Department (RTD).

Perak RTD director Ramli Awg Seberang said the four vandalised AES cameras were situated at KM205.6 near Kamunting and KM373.2 in Slim River, along the North South Expressway.

"Another two units vandalised were in Jalan Pasir Putih and Sungkai. The cameras were either damaged or splashed with paint. We have categorised the cases as serious vandalism," he told reporters during a briefing for government agencies, non government agencies and the media in Ipoh, today.

He said the companies that had installed the cameras had lodged a police report.

The maintenance and repair of the vandalised AES cameras is the responsibility of the private companies that installed the equipment.
