Another Automated Enforcement System (AES) camera has been vandalised in Sungkai, Perak, after two such devices in Selangor were sprayed with red paint last week.

According to Berita Harian , the camera, which was sprayed with black paint, is located at the 80th km along Jalan Persekutuan Sungkai-Slim River, near to Kampung Hendra and beside a National Service Programme campsite.

The Malay daily reported that the camera, which was installed to catch drivers exceeding the speed limit of 60kmh, has been dysfunctional since one week ago.

NONE A spokesperson from Sungkai police station confirmed the incident and revealed that the police have yet to receive any report over it.

“We ask for the cooperation of the public who have information or witnessed any individual conducting the act to inform the police,” he was quoted as saying.

The two AES cameras in Selangor were sprayed with red paint last week and have since been cleaned up by the authority.

The vandalism has triggered a battle of words between transport Minister Kong Cho Ha and Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu ( above ).
