Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today said the total debt settlement of Talam Corporation Holdings and its subsidiaries amounting to RM392 million is not finalised as it would be carried out in stages.

azlan He said as an example, the transactions between the government subsidiary, Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd (KHSB) with Talam Corp was still not finalised.

Abdul Khalid was commenting on the statement of MCA young professionals bureau chief  Chua Tee Yong yesterday who said "Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd's recent announcement on Bursa Malaysia shows discrepancies in the Selangor government's debt recovery exercise involving Talam Corporation Bhd”.

Chua said the report revealed that the amount owed to KHSB by Talam Group had been reduced from RM236mil to RM115mil and this debt reduction amounting to RM121 million was not mentioned in both the White Paper and the KPMG audit report.  

Abdul Khalid said according to the third party audit report, if there were still loans to be paid by Talam and its relations with KHSB, there are provisions for KHSB to make further claims.

He was speaking to reporters after handing over letters of credential to the appointment of village heads in the state for 2013 /2014 session.

"We have only ascertained RM392 million at this stage. We are making the claims in stages," he said.

NONE On Pakatan Rakyat's manifesto to provide monthly allowance to single mothers upon coming into power in Selangor, he said the manifesto was a vision, not a promise and financial aid to the poor which was more urgent was processed first.

"Help for single mothers does not mean we have to help all single mothers as there are single mothers with high income and there are single mothers who are doctors and dentists," he said.
