Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is afraid of “invincible” former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who remorselessly hounds political enemies, claimed PAS.

“Najib follows Mahathir’s wants and is afraid to dispute what the former premier say as he is afraid that (detrimental) files on him would appear,” said the Islamic party’s central working committee member Idris Ahmad.

“For example, another former PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, dared to cancel the crooked bridge project and until today, Mahathir bears a grudge and slams Abdullah at any opportunity.”

This invincibility, Idris argued is why Mahathir has managed to get away with calling Umno “the devil we know” and stating that Pakatan are “unknown angels” and even going as far as alleging that angels make mistakes.

His claims met with silence from Najib, Umno’s 3.5 million members and not even the ulama in the Malay party dared to question or correct Mahathir, alleged the PAS leader.

Only PAS and Pakatan leaders, he said, dare to face down the medical doctor-turned-politician.

However, Idris believes that Mahathir may be running damage control on his remark that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is backed by the devil.

“He is forced to save himself after alleging that Umno is ‘the devil we know’,” concluded Idris.
