A PAS-led movement opposing the Automated Enforcement System (AES) says it received more than 300 complaints on the first day its complaints counter opened at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

NONE Kempen Anti Saman Ekor (Kase) chairperson and PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar said the Kase received 260 online complaints and 60 walk-in complaints.

He also said lawyers from the PAS legal and human rights bureau would provide legal assistance to those issued AES summonses.

Launching the campaign yesterday afternoon, Mahfuz hoped the Kase move would pressure the government to write off the summonses and hold back the enforcement of AES until the complaints against it were resolved.

observed several people walk in to submit their AES summonses at the counter from 2pm.

NONE One of them, Ghazali Hashim ( right ), said he received two AES summonses when he drove to Penang on the North-South Expressway on Oct 5.

He said he had not seen any AES warning signboard along the route.

"Even the police speed traps have a signboard to warn us... I am not happy with this situation (the lack of AES signboards)," Ghazali said.

Parliament yesterday passed the operational and development expenditure for AES through block voting.
