The issue of human rights violations against the people of Gaza in Israel, and the Rohingyas in Burma, were among three motions debated at the 58th PAS General Assembly today.

The international motion was presented by PAS Youth which, among others, called for a resolution to demand the Malaysian government, through Parliament, adopt an emergency motion on Palestine and Rohingya which were currently experiencing extreme humanitarian conflicts.

The other motion which was debated by PAS Youth was on the call for immediate postponement of the Automated Enforcement System (AES) to prevent 'victimisation' of the people.

Also debated was the setting up of a syariah audit unit for the purpose of auditing the administration of the executive.

The three motions were among six proposals for debate, apart from eight other motions which were adopted without debate by the assembly.

Among the motions adopted without debate by the assembly were the restructuring of Harakah's editorial, call on PAS to step up missionary work on non-Muslims and the proposal that the PAS Supporters' Congress be given the opportunity to contest in the 13th general election.

 

Meanwhile, the issues of school-based assessment, creating a clean and fair election, as well as empowering its information series towards potential Malay supporters will be debated when the assembly resumes tomorrow.
