MUKTAMAR After wrangling with the asset declaration possibility, PAS Youth today announced that its exco line-up will adopt it on a voluntary basis.

"It will be done by our exco and all of them have agreed to do it voluntarily to uphold the value of integrity," PAS Youth's institute of policy studies director Shahir Sulaiman declared at the party's central muktamar in Kota Bharu.

The information, he said, will then be passed on to the wing's chief which will be monitored by a committee and if need be, handed over the party's president and spiritual leader.

"After the candidate list is ready, those nominated will voluntarily publish the information (for the public)," he said.

NONE The asset declaration topic had grabbed the limelight after PAS Youth secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil ( left) announced last Friday that this would be on the table at the 53th PAS Youth muktamar.

PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu had then upped the ante when he declared at the wing's muktamar opening on Wednesday that he, too, was prepared to announce his assets that very same day but was reined in by PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali who had insisted on a mechanism being in place first.

However, a day later during the closing of the PAS Youth muktamar, its chief Nasrudin Hasan had publicly declared  his assets to the youth delegates.

Shahir, who addressed central delegates today, expressed the hope that PAS Youth exco members would be able to emulate their leader's example.
