Asfia sworn in as Sarawak speaker for sixth term

Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar was sworn in as the speaker for the Sarawak legislative assembly for the sixth time at Dewan Lapau, Sarawak Legislative Assembly Building in Petra Jaya in Kuching today.

His sixth term as speaker is effective from Nov 15 until Nov 14, 2016.

The swearing-in ceremony was done before Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng.

Asfia, 65, began serving as speaker of the state assembly on Nov 15, 2000. His fifth term as speaker ends on Wednesday (Nov 14).
