Former Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali has called on Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat to relinquish his position for his defence of the party's cooperation with DAP within Pakatan Rakyat.
According to a front-page report by
Mingguan Malaysia,
the Sunday edition of
Utusan Malaysia
, Hasan (

) said the PAS spiritual leader should evaluate whether he is an asset or liability to the party.
"Before it is too late, Nik Abdul Aziz should think of passing his heavy responsibility as spiritual leader to his deputy, whom I am confident has equal capability and calibre," he was quoted as saying.
On Friday, it was reported in major newspapers that Nik Abdul Aziz had expressed puzzlement at attacks against PAS for the cooperation as DAP had not "disturbed" the former.
"Have Nik (Abdul) Aziz ( below ) and the people around him forgotten that Nik Aziz had on a number of occasions conflicted with DAP chairperson Karpal Singh and DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang who continuously insult and oppose PAS' struggle to implement hudud?" Hasan queried.
Hasan warned that Nik Abdul Aziz's statement may embolden DAP and "parasites" - a term dubbed by Hasan for PAS leaders favouring cooperation in Pakatan - to attack PAS' struggle and Islam.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Berita Harian , published today, Hasan said PAS had to do something "drastic" to "save" the party.
"This includes re-looking at the list of Parliament candidates (for the next general election) so that the list is free of those who are influenced by the slyness of (Opposition Leader) Anwar Ibrahim and DAP top leadership.
"Also, remove the parasites from the party altogether so that they will not tarnish the PAS' sacred struggle," he was quoted as saying.
