'BN calls Suaram foreign tool, but welcomes US warship'

The BN government is hypocritical in accusing human rights NGO Suaram of being a tool of foreigners on one hand, but welcoming a US warship to Port Klang on the other, Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) says.
“BN’s actions are truly hypocritical because at home, it has stepped up efforts to hound Suaram with all kinds of allegations on receiving foreign funds.
“On the other hand, with open arms it cooperates (with the West) by accepting the US’ war machine’s visit to our country,” PSM secretary-general S Arutchelvan said today.

said that such US warships have been visiting Malaysia frequently in the past but the “patriotic” BN-linked media had never criticised this, although, he added, this posed a threat to Malaysia's sovereignty.
He was referring to the ongoing government-linked mainstream media attacks on Suaram and news portal Malaysiakini as tools of foreigners, especially American funders, who allegedly want to undermine the Malaysian government.
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has even taken the tale as far as to say that American billionaire George Soros wants to colonise Malaysia .
Arutchelvan criticised the move to allow the USS George Washington to make a five-day visit to the country to “promote bilateral cooperation between the US and Malaysia”.
“The warship ... has been involved in several military operations that aim to carry out America’s imperialist agenda,” he said.
For example, he said, it had been involved in bombing Iraq in December 1998, as well as operations in the Persian Gulf and in ‘Operation Enduring Freedom’ that has “resulted in serious acts of violence towards many countries”.
Prime Minister Najib Razak should not allow US warships to dock or carry out activities in the country and should end cooperation with the US, Arutchelvan added.
